Let me briefly introduce myself:
-Obtained a B.Sc. degreeManagement with Accounting from UK
-Instead of jumping in to the public accounting industry, I started my first job as a sales consultant in a Mobile phone shop in south England, guess most of the international student in UK had the same experience with me that limitation on work permit did not give us the opportunity to look for a proper job. It is our choice though... I quickly picked up the sales performance and become a little bit overwhelmed about my accomplishment, so that I gave up the chance to go to Oxford for graduate school in Accounting. In return, I am still not a qualified accountant in terms of Certification.
-Canadian PR Status: My father applied for immigration to Canada when I was still a teenager. He finally decided to move to Canada and persuading I should d
o the same when I have already graduated and started working in UK. However, thanks to the Canadian government I received the PR card eventually, but my career path changed dramatically as well. I tried to fit in the Canadian culture, but my heart is telling me to go back to what I should be doing.
Although it has only been two years, I have had opportunities to work on different issue in accounting, tax and international regulations. I really enjoyed overnight sleepless prep for client meetings next day with Partners and senior management. Guess there really isn't any limit on people, we should try not to put ourselves in a box of limitations. We can achieve and exceed whatever we want.
-Back to Canada again: It's totally personal to leave PwC and it might be a bad idea to cut my career path off. The real reason is because I am in Love....so I will not regret it.
-Reality: Life made a joke with me, all big 4 firms require a CA student status to get in, if you don't have canadian accounting and tax experience or other international designations. what CA student status is really equals 51-credit in accounting and tax which can be obtained from an accredited accounting degree course from a Canadian university which I am not qualify for, I am not even qualify for junior position in general accounting or tax which requires the same basically.
So here I am, no 51-credit, no certification(CPA), no canadian experience. Today is the first post, hopefully I will get some updates soon with some good news. I will not give up, I need prove I am more than capable to deal with all that. Get on it John!
P.S. I am currently a full time job seeker and part-time accounting student (CPA) with 18 hours of work a day, I believe one day the goal will be achieved! All accounting, tax students are welcomed to contact with me, we may form a community to improve together.
I want to learn more strategies to pass the CPA exam that is why I am looking for it. Finally I found this blog and it gives me a little advice. Keep on sharing!
